Student Bursaries
|
We are pleased to provide bursaries to benefit post secondary students related
to members of emergency service organizations. The primary awards
have been established in the name of Michael Crowe and the Volunteer Firefighter
Association of BC (VFABC). They have been funded in perpetuity and
are in place with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and
the University of Victoria (UVic). A separate annual award for students
outside of BC, in the name of Provident, will be funded annually. All
awards will be based on financial need and reasonable academic standing.
The BCIT Student Financial Aid and Awards Office, and the Student Awards
and Financial Aid Office at the University of Victoria, will administer the
awards in accordance with their policies and procedures. Similarly
Provident will manage the bursary in its name.
Our experience is that emergency service workers are civic minded community
spirited individuals who often train for many hours. They are called
upon to serve under duress, in extreme circumstances, for the benefit of
their fellow citizens. We actively support these individuals and their
families. Our goal in establishing these awards is to recognize and
benefit students in honour of our “local heroes”.
